James poses in "Children of Men."

What I love about science fiction is that each book asks a “what if” question.  What if there really was an ancient civilization on Mars. (“The Martian Chronicles” by Ray Bradbury)  What if we were invaded by Martians, avelox 400 mg tabs. “The Sparrow” is an adventure story but it is also a thoughtful exploration of ethnocentricism and asks the reader to think about what it really means to be human.   It also asks us to explore the limits of faith through the unique characters who make up the valiant expeditionary group that lands on Rakhat.  “The Sparrow” is not for the feint of heart because the human experience in all its brutality and beauty is captured in the novel.

If you like “The Sparrow, avelox for sale, Avelox 400 mg price, ” Russell has a sequel “Children of God” which takes the reader back to the planet to see what the future holds for the two races that Sandoz discovers on his expedition.  Both books are available at the Burlington Public Library.  They make excellent choices for book group discussions.
